District leaders highlight strategic-plan projects and 17,000 instructional walkthroughs

District leaders presented an update on the Raytown Quality Schools strategic plan and instructional accountability at the April 13 board meeting.
Doctor Greiner (S22) said the district is tracking more than 40 strategic projects intended to improve student outcomes, staff well-being and community prosperity, and pointed the public to the district dashboard for details. "If you are interested in digging into any of those plans, they're available on our district website," Greiner said.
Assistant superintendent S23 described the district expectation that principals conduct frequent classroom walkthroughs (10 weekly for principals, five for assistant principals) and reported that the district has recorded roughly 17,000 walkthroughs to date. Principals said teacher leaders return strategies to classrooms through professional development and collaborative teams, producing measurable instructional growth.
Principals Julie Schmidt (S24) and Dr. Andrew McCarthy (S25) described how walkthroughs and teacher-leader coaching are embedded in building-level professional development and cited increases in observed classroom visits this year compared with last (e.g., McCarthy reported rising from 166 classroom visits to 521 this year across his administrative team).
Board members asked clarifying questions and staff said the strategic-plan projects and the dashboard are designed to provide transparency about progress and results.
