House adopts a series of local resolutions, DOT namings and recommits a welcome resolution after amendment dispute

Earlier on the floor, a resolution welcoming the former vice president drew controversy after Representative Frank offered 40 amendments. Representative Moore criticized the amendments as divisive and moved that the resolution be recommitted to the Invitations committee. “All this resolution does is saying welcoming the former vice president to South Carolina,” Moore said, calling the amendment process a politicization of what he described as a simple welcoming resolution; the motion to recommit was carried.
The House also adopted a motion to adjourn in memory of Pearl Fryer, a noted topiary artist from Bishopville who died on 04/04/2026; the motion was approved and ordered recorded in the journal. The body adjourned and members were reminded of upcoming events such as the Artfields legislative reception in Lake City.
