Scott Coker said staff compiled a timeline through mid-February 2027 and identified the most pressing near-term item as submitting a notice of intent to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity by June 1 so the city can enter the application queue. Coker and the chair emphasized that filing a notice of intent does not obligate the council to the project or to any expenditure; it only enables the city to proceed farther into the review process if the council later chooses to do so.
Coker said a district plan and a council resolution would be required by Jan. 1, 2027 to continue toward a Star Bond project application, which would be the following January. The chair said the letter of intent will be placed on next Monday’s council agenda for possible action if there are no objections from the committee.
