Macomb committee advances lease with Spellbound Stories LLC for downtown space

The Committee of the Whole reviewed an ordinance to authorize a commercial lease between the City of Macomb and Spellbound Stories LLC for space at 5 East Side Square. Scott Coker, city staff, described the deal as a “pretty typical lease” with monthly rent of $500 and an escalator, and said the tenant would be responsible for utilities, garbage, water and sewer.
Coker told the committee the city is working through building issues, including a sewer problem and HVAC work, but said staff is “working through that.” Chair placed the item on the agenda for second reading and action at next Monday's city council meeting.
If approved, the lease would mirror other small downtown commercial leases the city holds; staff did not report final permit signoffs or a tenant move-in date during the committee discussion.
