Greensburg parent urges board to keep assistant band director as program enrollment grows

Amanda Spurgeon, a Greensburg band boosters board member and parent, urged the Greensburg Community Schools board to retain the assistant band director position after the resignation of Mr. Obermeyer.
"Eliminating the assistant band director position would cripple our program," Spurgeon said, describing a program that now offers 10 band classes and serves 152 students in band plus 52 in other band courses. She said next year’s sixth-grade class is unusually large and the district should expect about 240 students enrolled in band.
