The Lenoir City Council approved two personnel actions on May 11, 2026: completion of a six-month probationary period for Officer Dean Morrea and the reappointment of Mike Arms to the Overseer Utility Board.
Police Chief (speaker 9) recommended granting permanent status to Officer Morrea, noting Morrea joined the department from the Knox County Sheriffs Office and had prior municipal policing experience in South Florida. "He has done exceptional in his first 6 months with us, and that's why we'd ask that he be granted tenure and his probation be completed," the chief said.
Council moved to grant permanent employment to Officer Morrea; the motion was seconded and passed on a roll-call vote. The council also considered a letter requesting reappointment of Mike Arms to the Overseer Utility Board for a four-year term expiring 06/03/2030 and approved the reappointment by voice/roll-call vote.
Both actions were presented as routine personnel and board-appointment matters; the council did not discuss further conditions or dissent.
