Speedway board hears detailed update on new field house; limited use possible June 1

The presenter (Facilities) said the left‑hand photos in the packet reflected what exists now and the right‑hand images were the original design renderings, noting numerous finish items remain. He described a new entryway (Door 13) that will be ADA accessible once power is activated, a weight room with 15 racks, new lighting, renovated laundry facilities, bollards on walkways for safety and a band/theater roundabout to ease equipment loading.
"We are expecting to go through final inspection on Friday and hopefully get our temporary certificate of occupancy," the presenter said, adding that some punch‑list items such as bleachers and furniture still must be finished.
Board members asked whether the field house could be used for graduation. The presenter said the district is coordinating with contractors and event staff; if the inspection passes and remaining items are minor, a limited opening for graduation and after‑school camps is possible around June 1. He noted the contractor has tracked about six weeks ahead of the contract schedule on major milestones.
The presenter also described behind‑the‑scenes infrastructure work: two new boilers, booster pumps to increase water pressure for the stadium and school building, added water softening to reduce scale in equipment, new riser room hookups so fire department shifts can hook into the building, and electrical and clean‑out valve work required by the town.
On staging and future summer projects, the presenter said stage‑floor and curtain replacement quotes are being revisited and that remobilization for classroom HVAC piping work is scheduled for May 26. He said parking‑lot resealing and restriping are planned during a moratorium week to avoid disruption.
The board did not take formal action on the facilities report. Trustees and staff discussed a soft ribbon cutting in June and a larger grand opening before the next school year.
The presentation closed with staff expressing confidence that major construction is complete but that several finish items remain before full occupancy.
