MSD Wabash County Schools board approves donations, personnel changes, curriculum adoption and student field trip

The MSD Wabash County Schools board approved a slate of routine items including donations, minutes and payroll, accepted several personnel changes and approved curriculum materials and a student field trip.
Chair (S1) introduced multiple recommended donations — including $50 from Nelson Dyson for Northwell Baseball; $1,000 from Chase Inyart, $1,000 from Thorn Insurance, and donations from Bingo Charity/Wabash College Lodge — and the board approved them as presented by voice vote. The board also moved and approved the April 14 meeting minutes and claims and payroll number 19.
Chair S1 read a list of personnel changes the board accepted: resignations including Taylor Zimmerman (social studies teacher at North Hill High School, effective end of the school year) and a set of hires and transfers (for example, Ryan Sincroft transferring to social studies at Northfield). The board moved to approve the HR report and approved it by voice vote.
On curriculum, district staff said they released proposed 6–12 ELA literature and novel lists for public preview; a community reviewer asked the district to ensure balanced presentation for materials that raise critical questions, and staff said teachers will present balanced viewpoints. The board approved a recommendation to adopt HMH literature resources for grades 6–12 ELA, including online components.
The board also approved an out-of-state field trip request for Northfield AP Physics, AP Chemistry and Calculus students to attend Cedar Point's Physics, Science and Math Day on Thursday, May 14. The motion passed by voice vote.
Superintendent (S4) gave a brief report that staff are reviewing handbooks and policies for legal changes effective July 1, highlighted district outreach at a Wabash County community baby shower about early learning, and reminded the board of graduation dates.
The meeting concluded with no further business and adjournment.
