Carlisle County EMS reports billing gains, pursuing community paramedicine grant

County emergency services reported higher billing year-to-date and staff said they will apply for a roughly $300,000 grant to launch a community paramedicine program and expect EMPG funds around $12,000.
Countryside emergency-services staff told the Carlisle County Fiscal Court that EMS billing is up and that the office is preparing to apply for a federal grant to start a community paramedicine program.
Josh reported the county collected $28,451.22 in April and said year-to-date billing is up by about $32,006.29 compared with the same point last year. He told the court that Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services funding to Kentucky will support mobile integrated health/community paramedicine programs and that he is preparing a grant application that he estimated could be about $300,000 to kick off the county’s program.
Josh also said the county expects Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funding to be released and that the county’s allocation will be just under $12,000 for the year. He said the department currently has two certified community paramedics and that the grant would help expand the program.
