Franklin County board approves consent agenda items, several hires and extracurricular assignments; finance update shows $5.55M education fund balance

A motion to approve minutes was moved and seconded and the board proceeded to approve remaining consent items including expenditures, resignations and internal positions together (vote recorded 6–0).
Trustees accepted the retirement of paraprofessional Deborah Annette Taylor and approved a new cafeteria hire (Lydia Marford at FCHS), each by unanimous recorded vote. The board also approved a lengthy personnel list for extracurricular positions across buildings — including multiple football assistant coaches, cheer and dance coaches, track and tennis assistants, and volunteer coaches — and recorded a 6–0 vote in favor.
The board approved an overnight field trip request by the boys’ varsity basketball team to attend Super Hoops (overnight, 06/12/26–06/14/26 in Marion, Indiana). The motion to approve the trip passed with an affirmative vote recorded as 6–0.
In a finance update, district finance staff Kendra reported fund balances as of April 30, 2026: Education Fund $5,548,695.08 (down from $6,842,774.41 a year earlier), Operations Fund negative $195,077.33 (improved from -$847,789.69 a year earlier), and Rainy Day Fund $4,164,641.37. She also reported year-to-date investment interest of $159,588.36 and reminded the board that a previously approved blanket resolution allowed a $1,000,000 transfer from the Education Fund to the Operations Fund.
No policy changes or new business were taken at the meeting; the board scheduled its next regular meeting for 6 p.m. Monday, June 15 at the Franklin County Administration Building.
