Greensville County names William Wright as new division superintendent

The Greensville County School Board formally introduced Dr. William Wright as the district’s new division superintendent at its May 11 meeting.

Wright, introduced by Board Chair Jesse, told the board and community he was “honored to have the opportunity to serve as division superintendent,” and said he would begin work immediately to prepare for the 2026‑27 school year. He said he has served as superintendent in districts both smaller and larger than Greensville in North and South Carolina and plans to spend the coming days and months meeting people and visiting schools to learn about the community.

The introduction followed a certification of a prior closed session earlier in the meeting. Wright described the timing as “unique” because he’s stepping in near the end of a school year but said he is already “actively involved and engaged.” He added that he looks forward to turning over “some stone to get to know us a little bit better” and to building on what he called an already‑good school division.

The board did not take formal action on the appointment at the public meeting; the introduction and Wright’s remarks were presented as the superintendent’s initial public comments. The board moved on to routine agenda business, including approvals of recommendations and personnel matters arising from closed sessions.
