Washington County Commissioners Court approved several routine items May 12, including a ceremonial proclamation, a contract for a July 4 fireworks display, a property-access agreement for tree removal and the county’s accounts payable.
Proclamation: The court adopted a proclamation recognizing May 2026 as National Foster Care Awareness Month and expressing support for the Heart Gallery of Central Texas. A motion to approve the proclamation was made by a county official and seconded; the court carried the item by voice vote.
Fireworks contract: Commissioners approved a $20,000 contract with Celestial Displays LLC to provide fireworks for the Stars Over Washington County July 4 celebration at the Washington County Expo. The contract will be paid from hotel occupancy tax (HOT) funds; the county stated it is partnering with the city of Bridal, which has a separate contract. The motion was made and seconded and passed by voice vote.
Property-access agreement: The court approved an access agreement with Lenora Jean Santana to allow county crews to hand-cut and remove a fallen tree along Brandt Road (Precinct 4) to avoid damage to a nearby structure; the landowner agreed to access and the county will repair fencing near the crossing. The motion was made and seconded and carried by voice vote.
Accounts payable: County finance staff reported a revised accounts-payable total of about $673,008.00, which included added travel reimbursements of $1,416. The accounts-payable packet included a $288,000 billing for the ATS Building and approximately $65,000 in radios for the sheriff’s office; the court approved payment by voice vote.
Votes at the meeting were recorded as voice votes with those present saying “Aye.” The transcript does not record a roll-call vote or individual vote tallies; the court recorded each motion as carried.
