Timmerman Elementary students showcase leadership and community service to USD 253 board

Representatives from Timmerman Elementary, including instructional coach Hayden Trujillo and teacher Lori Kerzen, presented a program highlight on April 22 showcasing the school’s student council, leadership activities and community partnerships.
Presenters said the Timmerman student council (five members at the meeting out of a 21‑member council) helps younger students through cross‑age buddy classrooms, greets students each morning, and leads community service projects such as the KVOE food drive and blood‑drive participation. School traditions described included the Bulldog Gala, Cans and Museum event, and monthly CKH assemblies.
Board members thanked presenters and asked light‑touch questions about favorite events; students said they enjoy field day and a “pie in the face” reward tied to food‑drive participation. The board applauded the presentation.
