Minnetrista council approves $26,000 contract for two drainage outlet repairs
Summary
The Minnetrista City Council voted to award a contract to Sun Construction to repair two drainage outlet structures (Bayside and Minneapolis Avenue). The $26,000 low bid came in well under the city’s $50,000 estimate; the work is expected to be completed this year pending permits.

The Minnetrista City Council approved a resolution awarding a contract to Sun Construction to repair two drainage outlet structures at Bayside and on Minneapolis Avenue.
City staff told the council they solicited five bids and received a competitive response from Sun Construction, which previously has done local work. The city had expected a roughly $50,000 budget for the pair of repairs; Sun Construction’s bid of approximately $26,000 was substantially lower and the council voted to award the contract.
Public works staff said permitting with the watershed remains outstanding but they aim to complete the work before year‑end if approvals come through. The repairs cover an outlet at the very end of Bayside and a drainage easement near Minneapolis Avenue; staff said both have been prioritized to protect local infrastructure and reduce runoff into adjacent lake areas.
Council members moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote; the transcript records the motion passed but does not include a roll‑call tally.
Staff will return with permit updates and a construction schedule once the watershed permit is obtained.
