Council approves airport lease, nuisance-mowing contract and Sports Center cooling-tower repair

The Crookston City Council approved several routine but material resolutions during its meeting.
A previously discussed 25-year non-commercial land lease with RZ Enterprises Inc. for a hangar lot at the Crookston Municipal Airport was presented by staff and approved by roll call. The lease follows the template the council previously authorized and is expected to produce property tax revenue to the city.
The council also awarded the nuisance-mowing contract (for enforcement mowing on private properties) to Total Lawn Care and Landscaping as the lowest responsible bidder. Staff explained the contract is for nuisance mowing only and that the city will bill property owners and recoup costs under existing enforcement policy.
Finally, the council approved a repair to a cooling tower at the Crookston Sports Center (estimated at roughly $13,800) necessary for the facility’s glycol system; staff said funds were available in the building maintenance budget but the item exceeded the administrator’s spending limit and therefore required council approval.
All three measures were approved by roll call during the meeting; staff will finalize contract documents and proceed with the repairs and lease implementation.
