During the public-comment portion of the March 10 Perth Amboy council meeting, Rent Board member Vince Mciel addressed the council and residents to explain how tenants can use the Rent Board’s complaint and application processes.
Mciel described the Rent Board’s role in assisting tenants and landlords with compliance matters and spelled out options for tenants, including filing complaints, pursuing decontrol petitions, and applying for capital-improvement or hardship relief under the board’s rules (cited in the record as rule 353-6). He urged outreach to make residents aware of the board’s complaint procedures and encouraged tenants to come to Olive Street to file paperwork and seek assistance.
Council members thanked Mciel and said the information would be helpful for residents. The exchange was delivered during the public-comment portion of the meeting; no formal council action on Rent Board procedures was taken at the session.
