Cullman County Schools board recognizes FCCLA students headed to national competitions

The Cullman County Schools Board paused its agenda to recognize student achievements in Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
A district speaker and FCCLA advisers described students who won first-place awards at the state level and qualified for national competitions. Whitney (presenting on the district's FCCLA work) said two students, Faith and Lola, both won first-place gold medals at the state conference and will compete at nationals this summer. Madison Sap, Vinemont High School's homemaking teacher and FCCLA adviser, told the board Katie Holmes won the state beef competition as the north senior winner and was named overall best in beef; other students placed in fashion design and entrepreneurship and performed speeches and portfolio presentations.
Students who spoke described the chapter review process, 10-minute speeches, portfolio work and display boards required for state competition. Several students who earned top placements or served as state representatives came forward for recognition, and board members and administrators congratulated them and arranged photographs.
The board did not take formal action on the recognition; the presentations were part of the meeting's opening agenda.
