Waite Park council schedules park-board review, retreat and open house at The Ledge

The Waite Park City Council announced a string of upcoming meetings and events, including a joint cities meeting hosted by St. Cloud on Tuesday, July 29, and a park-board review of the Community Park and Rivers Edge Park master plan ahead of the council’s Aug. 4 meeting.

Council leaders said the joint cities meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and will be held at a St. Cloud water treatment facility. Council members were asked to consult an emailed agenda and to confirm whether they can attend.

The council also confirmed a work session with the park board during the Aug. 4 meeting to review master-plan materials for Community Park and Rivers Edge Park; the park board will hold its own meeting on July 30 to review the plan, and council members said plan materials will be circulated after that review.

Council members agreed to hold a retreat on Aug. 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.; organizers said they would verify the venue (likely The Ledge) and send confirmed times once available. The council also said it plans an open house at The Ledge on Aug. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. The event will include behind-the-scenes tours hosted by Disturbed Soil, the contractor that manages backstage operations, and organizers said Disturbed Soil staff will be on hand to answer questions.

“All I got up here is a letter from the school district thanking them for their $2,000 donation from our gambling fund,” the chair said, noting the council had received written thanks from the district.

The announcements covered scheduling, public events and next steps for the park master-plan process; council members said they will circulate additional details to members and to the public when dates and venues are confirmed.
