Board approves black alternate jersey for Sept. 3 youth night after student pitch

Coach Shrivever and a student leadership member explained the design would pair a black jersey with the team’s traditional gold helmets and blue pants and that funding would come from the booster club through player fundraising rather than the district budget. Board member Sixberry moved to approve the jersey; the motion was seconded and, despite one vocal opposition, carried by voice vote.
Board members praised the idea for youth engagement and recruitment; no budget appropriation to the district was approved because the presenters said the booster club would fund the jerseys. The item was recorded as a standard approval in the meeting minutes.
