The City of New Baltimore City Council approved a slate of routine and project-related items at its April 13 meeting, including a rezoning, special-event permits, licensing pre-qualification and multiple consent-agenda purchases.
The council approved the Planning Commission's recommendation to rezone 35210 Cricklewood (Parcel #06-09-46-352-026) from General Commercial to Industrial for applicants Gjergj & Zef Markaj. Council also approved a request from Robert Higgins to adjust outdoor seating dimensions for Fin's Eatery & Spirits and required the requester to work with the building official for inspection compliance.
On licensing, the council approved the pre-qualification application of John Sikorski for a liquor license transfer at 51034 Washington Street, finding the applicant "meritorious" for the transfer. Earlier in the evening the council had convened a brief Quarterly Liquor License meeting to review the application.
The council approved multiple consent-agenda items and purchases, including Core & Main ($2,034.73) for watermain repair supplies; Project Control Engineering ($31,711.90) for March engineering services; Tomlinson & McGrail PLLC ($8,722) for legal services; Jim Riehl's Friendly Chrysler Dodge ($55,400) for a Fire Department pickup; and Motorola Solutions ($24,048). The council also authorized payment to Teltow Contracting ($67,034) for wastewater treatment plant work and approved the purchase of baseball uniforms from Dee's Sporting Goods ($6,981).
Resolutions adopted included No. 1007, supporting the Detroit Institute of Arts Partners in Public Art application, and No. 1008, setting massage licensure fees at $350. The council approved a special-event application from Adam Abraham, Parks & Recreation Director, to hold a Fishing Tournament, Vendor Show and Food Truck Rally on Aug. 1, 2026, and approved the New Baltimore Lions Club White Cane fundraiser for May 1–3, 2026.
All motions recorded in the transcript passed unanimously with "all voting yes." The council adjourned the meeting at 8:13 PM.
