The Mobile County Commission on April 30 held agenda item 32, the proposed Belmont Estates subdivision, after residents and a surveyor presented deeds and a field survey that they said show a 5-foot buffer strip on Flowerwood Nursery property.
Commission President opened the meeting with an invocation from Chaplain Snodgrass and read a proclamation declaring April 30, 2025, National Therapy Animal Day in Mobile County. The commission also recognized six county retirees and presented medallions and certificates.
John Kelly, a resident who said he lives near the Belmont Park/Lake Estate area, told commissioners a traffic study for the development determined turn lanes at Belmont Park Drive and Macdonald Road are warranted and said contractor Jeremy Hunt had offered to contribute toward those turn lanes. County staff did not provide a finalized cost and said negotiations with the developer (referred to in the record as variations of "Dr. Horton") were ongoing.
