Oldsmar council approves fire‑rescue fee ordinance, street‑name change and multiple zoning measures

Public commenter Tom O'Shea told the council he supported the measure, saying public safety is the primary task of government and that he supported “any effort to raise funds to ensure that our first responders are fully equipped and trained.” The ordinance passed first reading by roll call, 4–0.
The council also approved Ordinance 2026‑06 on first reading to rename a short portion of Tuscan Way to Merllo Court at the request of the Tuscan Woods Community Association. Association representative Zach Wall told the council the change will reduce confusion for delivery drivers and first responders. The measure passed on a 4–0 roll call vote.
On second reading, the council adopted Ordinance 2026‑04 to allow institutional uses as a conditional use in the C1 commercial neighborhood district; staff reported there were no changes since the first reading and no members of the public spoke for or against the item. The ordinance was adopted 4–0.
A third and final reading of Ordinance 2026‑02 corrected a prior typo and adopted multiple amendments to residential and town‑center development code sections governing yard setbacks, floor‑area and impervious surface requirements to align standards across districts. Council adopted the ordinance on a 4–0 roll call vote.
Council also approved Resolution 2026‑05, a policy regulating use of the city logo and specified city‑specific marks (Oldsmar Historical Collection, fire & rescue, and BMX). Staff noted additions to the protected logos would be done by subsequent resolution.
Votes at a glance: all roll‑call votes recorded in the meeting were 4–0 in favor (Vice Mayor Greyber, Council member Valerie Tatazesi, Council member Swagger, and Mayor Ganon). No recorded votes opposed or abstained during the adopted items.
