Planning staff told the Denison Planning Commission on April 28 that a rezoning request for roughly 1.26 acres along West Thatcher Street should be tabled to allow the applicant to provide revised materials.
Ms. York described case 2026-32Z as a request to rezone property at 1313, 1317 and 1331 West Thatcher Street from single-family 7.5 residential to C (commercial) to permit retail use. York said staff had not yet received the requested revisions and, after speaking with the applicant, expected those revisions by the end of the week. She recommended the commission table the public hearing to preserve alignment with upcoming city council dates.
Commissioners discussed whether to formally keep the public hearing open or to table the item; they agreed to table it. A commissioner moved to table the item to the Planning & Zoning Commission meeting on May 12, 2026; the motion received a second and the commission voted in favor. The transcript records the motion and the vote to table but does not name the mover, the seconder or provide a roll-call tally.
The tabling preserves the scheduling link between the Planning & Zoning and City Council review; staff said the earlier May 12 P&Z date will keep the case on track for the council meeting previously noticed. The transcript records staff expectation of applicant revisions but does not include the revised materials themselves.
