Coatesville students honored for Delaware Valley Science Fair; robotics teams reach state finals

The Coatesville Area School District on April 28 publicly recognized students who advanced from the district showcase to regional and state competitions and showcased extracurricular STEM achievements.
Ms. Manzulli introduced two students with top finishes at the Delaware Valley Science Fair: ninth-grader Harlow Stover won first place in behavioral/social science at the Chester County competition and third place in behavioral/health sciences at the Delaware Valley Fair; 12th-grader George Simeoni won first place in microbiology at the Chester County competition and second place in microbiology at Delaware Valley. Teachers and coordinators who supported the students were acknowledged on stage.
The board also heard from student leaders and coaches involved with Link (Leaders Involved in Networking Kids), a peer-leadership program; students described the retreat experience as confidence-building and critical to building supportive peer networks. Several students (Aubrey, Julius, Amare, Adriana) spoke about personal growth and the program’s value.
Coaches and captains from the Coatesville Robotics Club presented team achievements: three teams competed with distinct robot designs, two teams reached state finals, and student captains highlighted awards including a design award and outreach and innovation recognitions. Team leaders said the program provides hands-on CAD/CAM, programming (Java), and outreach experiences; one team noted a $5,000 grant from Google to support activities.
The board applauded the students and coaches and invited the community to continue supporting STEM programs across the district.
