Members discussed outreach plans for PFAS Awareness Week, including a two-part town hall focused on the former Folk Road Landfill. The group set a virtual town-hall date for Thursday, April 30, at 6:00 p.m. with a local watch party hosted by the Great Lakes PFOA Action Network at Holly Calvary Church beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Rick and Dan outlined additional outreach ideas — a paddle event on the Huron River to engage anglers and recreational users, and coordination with legislators for a panel or movie night. The group noted licensing costs for showing the film Dark Waters at a theater are high and that some venues (classes or campuses) may be able to screen it without charge. Staff reminded members that limited local GL Plan grants may be available to cover modest event costs such as room rental or speaker stipends.
Members agreed to continue planning and to invite state and local elected officials to participate in outreach events; staff offered to provide templates and support for event logistics.
