Ohio County commissioners voted to authorize a not-to-exceed amount based on the most recent vendor quote so the county may proceed with installing automatic door-release equipment that links courthouse fire doors to the alarm panel.
A commissioner reported that an installer’s equipment quote for the door hardware was roughly $12,600, while an earlier full-service quote for Siemens to install and reprogram the fire-service panel was recorded in the meeting as $25,556.52. The board approved a motion to move forward under a not-to-exceed arrangement while staff continues to seek a finalized Siemens price.
The action authorizes county staff to proceed subject to the final Siemens programming quote; commissioners voted verbally in favor. No detailed roll-call vote was recorded in the meeting transcript.
Commissioners also handled several routine items during the same session. They approved bridge-inspection contracts to be executed with contractor representatives who said they will perform inspections across the county and requested a working session or a joint meeting with the council to review bridge financing and the VOT process.
The board approved a local agreement with Dearborn County Circuit Court covering the county’s annual contribution for court-related staffing and services (the contract summary in the meeting cited $200,000 for salaries and benefits and a separate testing line around $21,718). Commissioners agreed to sign the agreement and authorized the payment process; discussion noted staff could negotiate a semiannual payment schedule in future contract talks.
The commissioners also approved hiring actions: staff requested and the board approved hiring Alexis Bruce as a full-time dispatcher and Kimberly Pal as a part-time dispatcher to fill two recent vacancies in the dispatch office. The board recorded a motion and second for the hires.
Other procedural matters included authorization to sign claims and minutes and direction for staff to obtain required documentation for vehicle-related payments (a promissory note, vehicle description, VIN and a W-9 were all discussed as prerequisites to payment).
The meeting closed after additional procurement and IT-support discussion; staff said they would return to the commissioners with final quotes and contract documents.
