Board raises safety concerns about trail parking and river erosion near greenway

On trail parking, staff said they have photographed violations and forwarded them to the police chief and dispatch for enforcement. "If someone's walking and is forced out into the street, that's not acceptable," a board member said; staff said repeated violations may require fines if they continue.
On river erosion, staff reported the bank is still about 50 feet from the paved trail but heavy rain could accelerate the problem. County highway staff plan to attempt a drainage channel or extend a retaining wall as needed; Parks staff will contact the drainage board and county and track options for more substantial trail rerouting or stabilization in the coming years.
The board asked staff to follow up with the police and county agencies and to report back with possible mitigation steps and costs.
