Denville board approves personnel items, contracts and program updates; awards to be announced May 11

The Denville Township K‑8 School District board approved a slate of routine personnel and program items and heard several operational updates at its meeting.
Under personnel the board approved items 1–7 — new hires, resignations, a master staff list for 2025–26, staffing for the extended school year program, substitute hires, pay rates for substitute nurses on field trips, an employee FMLA leave and a student volunteer mentor summer program description — after a roll call vote. Mr. Capello moved the personnel block.
Instruction items approved included workshops and expenses for school psychology training, a set of field trips, approval for a student intern to use coursework for research with parent permission, and Title III purchases.
Under operations the board retroactively approved bus emergency evacuation drills at multiple schools, authorized an MOA with County College of Morris for 2026–27, approved a building automation services contract for $12,638, and approved a maintenance‑reserve repair for a collapsed storm drain at the bus garage (transcript vendor/amount was unclear and requires confirmation in the minutes).
Trustees also authorized work to refresh the district website and requested periodic vendor updates during the redesign. The superintendent said winners of the persons/staff/community of the year will be announced at the May 11 board meeting, and the assistant superintendent reminded families that NJSLA testing starts Wednesday and reported kindergarten enrollment at about 184.
