Dr. Spner announced his resignation from the Matuchen Board of Education during the April 28 meeting, saying the decision was based on personal reasons. In prepared remarks he reflected on his years of service, thanked fellow board members and administrators and described equity and policy work as priorities of his tenure.
"It is with sincere regret that I announce my resignation from the board of ed," Dr. Spner said. He asked the community to continue supporting the district and said he was proud of work done on equity, recruitment and policy alignment. Board members and the superintendent publicly thanked him for his service and praised his leadership on policy and equity committees.
The board accepted his statement and the meeting continued with routine approvals. No replacement was announced at the session; board members said the district will follow its procedures for filling the vacancy.
