School cafeteria $450,000 reserve clarified after slide discrepancy, school representative says

Maria said the $450,000 was placed in reserve to backstop school food service operations during post‑COVID reimbursement changes and that the school division asked the county to carry the funding into FY27 as a hold.
Miss Callaway told the board she was not aware that any of the $450,000 had been spent and said staff would find and forward the corrected email and updated slide. The board confirmed the cafeteria fund is treated as a separate, assigned fund balance and would be transferred from the general fund only if the cafeteria operation needed a transfer.
Board members requested the staff email and corrected spreadsheet be circulated so supervisors and the public can see the updated accounting before the Thursday adoption vote.
