Montgomery Township’s Board of Supervisors voted April 27 to award a contract to My Lock and Safe LLC to purchase and install programmable magnetic locks on men’s and women’s restrooms at Spring Valley Park and William F. Mall Park at a vendor quote of $11,800 (quote dated March 5, 2026).
Public Works Director Greg Reef told the board the programmable locks will allow the township to lock and unlock restrooms on schedules tailored to park use and sports schedules, with the goal of deterring vandalism and keeping restrooms closed until repairs or professional cleaning can be performed. Reef said a total of $11,200 is included in the 2026 capital investment plan, and staff recommended awarding the contract per the March quote.
A resident asked whether cameras or arrests had occurred; Reef said there are not cameras and that vandalism incidents have included the spreading of human fecal matter in restrooms. A board member asked whether staff could lock a restroom remotely by phone; Reef said staff are investigating programmable, phone‑controllable options.
The board moved, seconded and approved the contract award. Supervisors said they hope the locks will reduce repeated cleanup costs and preserve park facilities for residents.
