The Woodford County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the purchase of a new ambulance from Atlantic Emergency Solutions for $317,458 and authorized the judge executive to sign any documents necessary to finalize the purchase.
Director Freeman Bailey told the court five bids were returned and recommended Atlantic Emergency Solutions because the company could deliver the vehicle in December 2026 or January 2027; other bidders projected two-to-three-year lead times. "We can receive that truck in December of '26 or January of '27," Director Bailey said when explaining the recommendation.
Magistrates discussed technical details: the recommended unit is mounted on a Ford F550 chassis to keep fleet parts and maintenance consistent with the county's existing apparatus. Bailey noted the county’s oldest units date to 2012 and that remanufacturing older boxes can cost between about $50,000 and $90,000 while new units are becoming more expensive (he projected newer truck prices could reach $400,000 in the coming years).
Motion and execution: The motion to accept Atlantic Emergency Solutions’ $317,458 bid was made by Squire Jackie Brown and seconded by Squire Larry Blackford; the roll call vote was unanimous. The court also voted unanimously to allow the judge executive to sign any purchase or financing documents needed to complete the transaction.
What this means: The purchase decision replaces aging units, preserves fleet standardization and avoids the multi-year waiting lists many ambulance suppliers currently have.
