The Oakdale City Council voted April 28 to table Ordinance 961, a proposed amendment to the zoning code that would change rules for residential recreational vehicle (RV) storage.
Community Development Director Andy Getslaf reviewed four recommended changes: increase permitted RVs per lot from one to four; replace seasonal setback exemptions with a universal 15-foot curb setback; remove the hard-surface requirement when vehicles are parked in side or rear yards; and clarify that RVs must be free of leaking hazardous fluids. Getslaf said the city attorney had reviewed the draft and that the Planning Commission recommended approval after a public hearing. "As a point of clarity the code already requires that those vehicles be licensed and operable as well," he said.
Council members asked for more time to refine language. Mayor Kevin Zabel said council customarily returns items to workshop when members request additional time to resolve concerns. Council moved to table the ordinance and set it for reconsideration at the May 26, 2026 meeting. The motion passed by voice vote; the meeting transcript does not record a roll-call tally.
The council asked staff to collect specific questions and prepare revised language for the next workshop. No public hearing comments beyond the Planning Commission process were reported in the council meeting minutes for this session.
