Sean Coach Choate, representing Davis County Human Resources, told the commission that the county will decline additional pickup of the Utah Retirement System (URS) Tier 2 public-safety employer pickup beyond the county’s current contribution of 2.59 percent. Choate said the additional requested pickup would have been 1.25 percent, and noted that in 2024 the county agreed not to pick up contributions beyond 2.59 percent.
A commissioner moved to approve the HR recommendation to decline the additional pickup; the motion was seconded and the commission approved it unanimously by voice vote. The action preserves the county’s current contribution level and does not change employee or URS contribution rates beyond what is already in place.
No fiscal analysis or projected cost impact was provided at the meeting.
