Controller: few tax-sale parcels remain; commission approves traditional bid sale

Sherry Meyer, of the Davis County Controller’s office, told the commission on May 12 that the county’s tax-sale inventory has declined sharply this year. Meyer said the list originally included 31 homes, 36 land parcels and nine commercial properties; recent payoffs removed homes from sale and left about nine to ten parcels of land expected to be listed for the upcoming sale.
Meyer asked the commission to approve the traditional tax-sale bidding process and to confirm that remaining parcels be sold as whole lots rather than broken into smaller pieces. A commissioner made a motion to approve that approach, the chair seconded and the commission voted unanimously to adopt the traditional bidding process and sale-as-whole policy.
The controller noted she expected an overnight payment on one parcel and that payoffs earlier the same day reduced the number of parcels for sale. Commissioners thanked Controller Scott Park and his team for their work in helping property owners and managing the tax-sale process. No sale dates or estimated proceeds were provided in the meeting record.
