St. Johns County opens widened County Road 210 in test of new project-delivery team

A county official described the roadway changes as a direct response to residents' concerns. "This project is a direct response to what our residents have been asking for. Widening 210 from I95 to US1 adds capacity, improves traffic flow, and makes this corridor work better for the families, businesses, and schools that depend on it," the official said. County materials and staff said the project adds a new travel lane, new sidewalks and a traffic signal at Badger Park Drive.
The same official, who noted they had taken office in November 2024, added: "I can't even count the number of emails and phone calls that I have received since I've been in office ... from residents in this area, business owners" and said the completion will be appreciated by both businesses and residents.
Construction staff explained steps taken to reduce disruption during the work, saying that the team temporarily opened a second eastbound lane while crews were working to ease congestion. "During construction, usually it's already a constrained condition and construction usually makes it worse. We were a little innovative on this one where we opened up a second eastbound lane, which helped out during construction," an agency official said, and thanked motorists for their patience.
