Albany County approved a motion to designate the county as lead agency for the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) of the Albany‑Shaker Road Corridor Project. The committee approved the designation after staff characterized the project as locally administered, federally aided and anticipated to be an unlisted action.
The designation was introduced by staff as part of the committee’s current business. Staff listed involved agencies including the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the state Department of Transportation and the Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and said a notification letter would be amended to add the Town of Colonie after realizing it had been omitted.
"This is a request to designate Albany County as the lead agency for the SEQR process for the Albany‑Shaker Road Corridor Project," the presenter said, noting the project’s federal‑aid status and expected SEQR classification.
A commissioner asked whether the Village of Colonie lies within the corridor from Maxwell Road to Everett Road; the presenter confirmed the village is within that corridor. Following that clarification, a motion to designate the county as the SEQR lead was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
The committee did not record a roll‑call tally in the transcript; the motion carried with no members recorded as opposed. The presenter said staff will amend the notification letter to include the Town of Colonie and proceed with required interagency notifications and next steps under SEQR.
