Cal said the town relies on real estate receipts to fund services such as daily police patrols, weekly trash and recycling collection and community events, and that officials want to avoid passing new tax burdens to residents.
Mayor Marian and Cal framed the vote as an effort to balance fiscal stability and service delivery. "We want to try to keep costs as low as we can," Mayor Marian said, adding the town seeks grant funding and other sources to reduce pressure on property taxpayers.
A motion to approve Resolution 2026-03 (with a correction to the date in the document) was made, seconded and the board voted in favor. The resolution was adopted at the town's current rate.
The resolution text read in open session cites the town's ongoing efforts to secure grants to address infrastructure needs and to avoid unnecessary tax increases; the ordinance language and the adopted resolution will be included in the town's official minutes.
