The Southgate Community School District board voted April 28 to approve a tentative agreement with food service staff represented by Teamsters Local 214.
District staff told the board the agreement ‘‘will raise wages to market rate around us and … that has been long overdue,’’ and that the unit ratified the agreement last week. The agreement was presented to the board for final approval.
Dr. Pomponio moved to approve the tentative agreement; the motion was supported and the board voted in favor. No public comment or additional discussion was recorded during the item.
The board took the action during its regular meeting; staff said the wage adjustments are tied to ongoing negotiations with employee groups this spring. The district did not provide salary schedules or a dollar figure in the meeting record.
