Providence Board opens bids, refers results to City Planner; Converge submits $522,112.80 cloud-security bid

The Providence Board of Contract and Supply opened several procurement bids at its March 9 meeting and voted to refer the packages to the City Planner for review. The board moved to Section B to read bids aloud and then referred the results by motion, which carried.

The clerk read offers for parks and public-property work, including ash-treatment bids for emerald ash borer (five bidders), multiple park site-improvement solicitations (extended to March 23), a City Hall pressure-washing and window-cleaning solicitation with four bidders (Northeast 8: $174,000; Summit Exterior Cleaning: $29,533; East Coast Masonry and Restoration: $138,500; Watts Power Wash Solutions: $56,494), and parking-lot paving at Vincent Brown Recreation Center (six bids ranging from $135,307 to $345,700). The Department of Public Works blanket contract for sidewalk, road, bridge and drainage construction listed 14 unit-price bidders.

A single bid was opened for an enterprise cloud-security platform and professional services: Converge Technology Solutions, $522,112.80. For on-call mechanical, electrical and plumbing services the clerk read a unit-price bid from R Plumbing and Construction; the snow-and-ice control solicitation attracted no bids and was left on the agenda.

After reading bids the board voted to refer the full set of bid documents to the City Planner for administrative review. The referral was moved by Director DePina and seconded by Director Arzelanian; the motion passed by voice vote.

The board also approved the advertisements listed in Section C by motion before returning to Section A for further review.
