Wall High students recognized for arts, theater and state bowling titles

The Wall Township Board of Education recognized multiple student achievements April 28, highlighting arts and athletics honors from the past month.
Art teacher Jill Alexander presented six students whose work was chosen for county or state exhibitions: Melody Casters and Aaron McBarron were selected for the State Youth Art Month exhibition at Grounds for Sculpture; Abigail Beekler, Abigail Tasoy, Brooke Rowland and Kiara Burns were selected for the New Jersey Teen Arts Festival. Alexander said the selections were made by panels of New Jersey art educators and represent a high honor for student artists from Monmouth County.
Board members also celebrated 11 Basie Awards nominations for Wall High productions (the fall drama Eurydice and the spring musical Into the Woods) and congratulated Mr. Ryan and Mr. Courtenhouse among nominated staff.
Athletics recognition included the Wall High boys bowling team's Group 2 state championship and Donovan Kline's repeat title as the overall individual state champion. Coaches and student athletes were brought forward for applause and commendation.
Superintendent's and administrative updates at the meeting also noted upcoming NJSLA testing windows, community wellness events, a new dual-enrollment agreement with The College of New Jersey, recent tree-planting through grant partnerships, and the district's award as a Best Communities for Music Education recipient.
