Covington council appoints two students to Youth Council

The Covington City Council on April 28 appointed two students to fill positions on the Youth Council.
Debbie moved to appoint Lamar Al Carrolli to position number five for a term beginning July 1, 2026 and expiring upon high-school graduation; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Debbie said Lamar impressed the interview panel with leadership experience and an interest in supporting youth who feel disconnected from community activities.
The council also appointed Gia Bianca Pergenon to position number eight, beginning July 1, 2026 and expiring on graduation. Council members noted Gia’s interest in representing underrepresented youth, improving access to mental-health supports and her marketing and PR experience; Jennifer and Riley highlighted Gia’s organizing work and outreach skills.
Both appointments passed by voice vote. The council did not specify additional onboarding steps at the microphone; staff will finalize appointment paperwork and terms.
