Quincy noted Kaylin students pointed out a quiet library room used for make-up testing and praised communication tools including the GK Cox app and newsletters.
Emma James, newly appointed student board member, said the student advisory committee has named a new vice president and secretary and added several new members for next year. She said she and other students will work with Mrs. Edwards on May 5–7 to hand out school-registration flyers at KES, GS and GKMS drop-off locations. Emma described a forthcoming student-to-staff recognition program that will distribute raffle tickets through classes to celebrate teachers who made a positive impact.
In district communications, staff reported on community events and student activities including the Lions Club 'citizen of the year' program for students, a National Honor Society car wash fundraiser, and a jazz-band visit to a retirement home. Staff also provided an information-only foyer report noting a procedural update: because artificial intelligence has increasingly been used in submissions, the district now has the ability to ask a foyer requester whether they are human.
The board discussed a number of routine governance items during the meeting, including a first reading of press-policy updates that will return for action at a later meeting.
