Staff said the procurement used the specialized‑services statutory pathway appropriate for design contracts and confirmed bidding requirements were observed for the sampled projects.
On technology, the board approved a contract with RTI to refresh approximately 3,130 Chromebooks at an estimated contract value of about $1.3 million. Staff said existing devices had reached end of life and would be collected over the summer; staff will assess the condition of returned devices and develop a plan for redistribution, recycling, or resale to maximize resources for students in need.
On labor matters, trustees opened a public hearing on the district’s initial bargaining proposal with the Moreland Teachers Association (MTA) and accepted the district’s initial bargaining proposal and MTA’s sunshine list (compensation and health/welfare benefits). The hearing drew no public commenters.
The board also nominated and voted to appoint Jodie Mirhead as its CSBA (California School Boards Association) delegate after a runoff was confirmed for Region 20. Consent items were approved in aggregate.
