Mayor Cameron Sisaya delivered a brief update recapping summer events in Pinole and honoring a longtime city employee. Speaking in a recorded message, Sisaya said the Fourth of July celebration at Pinole Valley High School included a community walk, food trucks and a drone show, and thanked city staff and volunteers for keeping the event safe and memorable.
Sisaya said he posthumously presented the key to the city to Robert Walker Jr., recognizing "his outstanding contributions to our community." The mayor said Walker served as a public‑works maintenance worker for 45 years and that Walker’s daughter, Tracy Walker, accepted the award on his behalf.
The mayor also highlighted a community partnership between the Pinole Police Department and the Northern California Special Olympics. "The Pinole Police Department led the torch run again this year to support the Northern California Special Olympics," Sisaya said, describing officers guiding athletes and city staff along San Pablo Avenue and passing the torch to San Pablo PD.
Sisaya asked residents to watch the city’s calendar for more events and encouraged community participation. He noted that the city will be at Bayfront Park on Sept. 20 for Coastal Cleanup Day and invited volunteers to help clean Pinole’s shoreline and earn service hours.
The remarks concluded with a reminder that residents can follow the city’s website, social media channels and PCTV for monthly updates.
