The Leverne Planning Commission on April 28 approved several routine items, accepted a residential concept plan and voted to send a favorable recommendation to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to amend local zoning procedures to match a state change in public‑notice timing.
Commissioners moved and seconded to approve minutes from the March 17 workshop and the March 31 regular meeting; the motion passed on a voice vote. The body then considered a concept plan for a proposed nine‑lot subdivision (referred to as MROSE) on a 2‑acre parcel at 111 Iran Road (Tax Map 18P Group A Parcel 6) in the R3 high‑density residential zoning district. Planning staff noted utility comments would guide the preliminary plat and construction drawings but were not a hindrance to accepting the concept plan, and the commission voted to accept it as submitted.
On a separate item, staff explained the state changed its public‑notice statute, increasing the minimum notice for hearings from 15 to 21 days. "It used to be 15 days public notice requirement for public hearings and they've changed it to 21," staff said. The commission voted to send a positive recommendation to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen to amend Chapter 14 of the Leverne zoning ordinance to reflect the new statutory timing.
Staff also reported that bonds and letters of credit are up to date and that the summary sheet previously distributed to the commission is expected to be available again next month. With business concluded, the chair adjourned the meeting.
