Provo City Council voted 6-0 on April 28 to approve a $75,000 appropriation from the general fund to finance a citywide economic development strategy study.
Cody Hill, Division Director of Economic Development, said the study was identified by the council in January as a priority and that the city issued a request for proposals that closed April 18 with 10 respondents. Hill said the selection committee is scheduled to meet Thursday to select a consultant.
Council discussion on the item was brief and the council opened the item for public comment; none was received. The appropriation passed 6-0.
Staff said the study will provide recommendations for city-wide economic development priorities; specifics about consultant scope, timeline and deliverables will be determined through the RFP process.
