Board approves personnel moves, hires buildings-and-grounds director and accepts donations

Board members approved employee relations items and appointments, then introduced and welcomed Jeff Scoffield as the district’s new director of buildings and grounds. The chair noted Scoffield was selected from a large candidate pool and brings custodial, maintenance and grounds experience from Cherry Hill; outgoing director Mr. Cano was acknowledged.
The finance and operations committee reported that the Baker HVAC project remains under budget despite two anticipated change orders; the first change order appeared on the meeting agenda and a second was expected in May. Committee members also discussed the renewal of the food-service management contract and the plan to convert the district chef role to a full-time position.
As part of the consent agenda, the board accepted a donation of baseball pitching machines valued at $7,000 from the baseball boosters/fundraiser for Moorestown High School. Board members approved several routine items, field trips (including an overnight trip to Montreal and Quebec City), and other contract renewals and RFPs noted in the packet.
The board recorded votes for routine personnel and consent items where required and publicly introduced the new director during the meeting.
