SBA briefs Cosmopolis on disaster loans after presidential declaration covering Grays Harbor

An SBA representative briefed the Cosmopolis council and public on federal assistance available after a presidential disaster declaration covering Grays Harbor County.
Danielle, the SBA’s assigned representative for Grays Harbor, said the disaster declaration (No. 21499) covers severe storms, straight-line winds, flooding, landslides and mudslides from Dec. 5–19, 2025, and that the county is a primary county for that declaration. She reviewed SBA disaster-loan terms: homeowner physical-damage loans at 2.875% interest, business loans at 4% and nonprofit loans at 3.625%; loan limits indicated were up to $500,000 for homeowners and up to $2 million for businesses. Application deadlines she cited were June 10, 2026 (physical damage) and Jan. 7, 2027 (economic injury). Danielle also described no-payment, no-interest periods for the first 12 months in some cases and said SBA can deploy mobile recovery centers and coordinate with county emergency management for community outreach.
The SBA presentation was procedural and informational; councilors thanked the presenter and indicated they would coordinate with county emergency management to publicize resources.
Citizens were told to expect outreach and that staff would work to make application assistance available locally.
