The La Verne City Council on April 20 adopted the 2026–27 comprehensive fee schedule, approving technical clarifications and targeted adjustments to better align fees with the cost of services.
Senior management analyst Ellie Luo presented the annual update, which staff said introduces no new fees but restructures existing schedules, clarifies equipment rental and disaster response billing tied to FEMA rates, formalizes water connection installation charges, transitions residential customers to direct billing with waste management beginning Sept. 1, 2026, and adjusts certain fire and police service fees to reflect cost recovery needs.
Luo said proposed changes include eliminating resident/nonresident distinctions for some fire assessments, consolidating vehicle release fees, and introducing more granular appeal fees for planning and development decisions. "The majority of the fees remain unchanged," Luo said; staff recommended adoption.
Council members praised the clarity of the redlined materials and noted the move helps the city recoup administrative, legal and noticing costs for discretionary appeal processing. After no public comment, the council adopted the resolution updating the fee schedule 4–0 (Council member Casper absent).
Staff said individual departments will respond to follow‑up questions about particular fees and that the updated schedule is intended to reflect the actual cost of providing services while remaining equitable to residents and businesses.
